Building for health

Over a period of 10 years, the 223 000 m2 St. Olavs Hospital is built on the existing site near downtown Trondheim, Norway. Of the old hospital, more than 80% or
100 000 m2 has  been demolished, while the hospital was in full operation throughout. Our vision is 'building for health'.

To us, this vision means

  • ... patient health is the key concern. The staff is educated for and are working for the health of the patient. Even the hospital and the medical faculty research belong in the final analysis to the patient.
  • ... we are building an integrated hospital. The buildings house patients, relatives, health personnell, service personnell, students, teachers and researchers - equally.
  • ... St. Olavs Hospital shall be a model for health care in our region, in Norway ad even internationally.
  • ... the building of the hospital must not negatively affect the health of workers and neighbors while it is being built.
